Los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro 2016,oficialmente conocidos como los Juegos de la XXXI Olimpiada, o más comúnmente como Río 2016, es un evento multideportivo que se rige por el Comité Olímpico Internacional, que se celebra en la ciudad de Río de Janeiro, Brasil, entre el 5 y el 21 de agosto de 2016, aunque la fase de grupos del torneo de fútbol comenzó el 3 de agosto en la rama femenina y el 4 de agosto en la rama masculina. También se realizarán en dicha ciudad los XV Juegos Paralímpicos, entre el 7 y el 18 de septiembre del mismo año.
En esta edición de los Juegos Olímpicos se espera la participación de más de 11 000 atletas de 206 comités olímpicos nacionales —Kosovo y Sudán del Sur participarán por vez primera—, que competirán en 306 eventos de 28 deportes, incluyendo el rugby 7 y el golf, agregados al programa olímpico en 2009. Las competiciones se llevarán a cabo en 33 recintos deportivos de cuatro barrios de Río de Janeiro —Maracaná, Barra da Tijuca, Deodoro y Copacabana— y en cinco estadios ubicados en las ciudades de São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador de Bahía, Brasilia yManaos.

España suma ya once preseas, seis de oro, en Río 2016
Carolina Marín se ha proclamado campeona olímpica de bádminton en Río 2016. La onubense se ha impuesto a la india Sindhu V. Pusarla por 19-21 y 21-12 y 21-15 y ha cosechado un éxito impensable para este deporte en España hace no demasiado tiempo. Marín sigue haciendo historia y ha dado al bádminton español su primera medalla olímpica, la undécima para la delegación española en Río de Janeiro.
El oro de Marín es la única corona que le faltaba a la volantista española. Doble campeona del mundo y de Europa, también ha tocado techo en unos Juegos Olímpicos. No se conformaba con la plata. Lo dijo por activa y por pasiva. Venía a por el oro y se va con él colgado del cuello. Y lo ha conseguido con una superioridad absoluta sobre todos sus rivales, ante los que solo ha cedido un set en todo el torneo, el primero de la final.
Tras deshacerse en semifinales de la última campeona olímpica, la china Li Xuerui, Marín batió en la final a la india Pusarla, décima del mundo, a la que derrotó con firmeza, sacándo lo mejor de sí tras un inicio de partido complicado y sin bajar lo más mínimo el grandísimo nivel con el que ha competido todos y cada uno de los puntos en estos Juegos Olímpicos.
No consiguió hacerse con el primer set, que fue para la india en una batalla muy igualada. Carolina mandó durante buena parte de los 27 minutos que duró esta primera manga, pero su rival consiguió ponerse por delante en la fase decisiva y ganó por 21-19. Pero este revés no hundió a la española, que regresó con toda su fuerza en el segundo set, arrancado con un parcial de 4-0.
Pusarla trató de meterse en la pelea pero un nuevo parcial demoledor de 5-0 de Carolina abrió una brecha en el marcador (11-2), que le daría a la española una ventaja amplia para avanzar hacia la conquista del segundo set (21-12) y el empate del partido (1-1) en apenas 22 minutos.
El tercer y definitivo set comenzó con Carolina imparable pero Pursala no había dicho su última palabra y con un parcial de 4-0 se metió en la lucha por el oro (10-10) igualando el set y poniendo contra las cuerdas a la española con sus contundentes ataques. Pero Carolina sacó su condición de campeona y endosó cuatro puntos consecutivos (14-10) que la volvían a poner camino del oro. Aguantó la española, batió a Pursala y tocó la gloria olímpica al ganar 21-15 en 31 minutos de juego.
Rozando la perfección
Es el cierre inmejorable a unos Juegos impolutos. Marín debutó con un 2-0 sobre la finlandesa Nanna Vainio, y fue superando rondas con idéntico resultado contra la danesa Kjaersfeldt, la coreana Sung Ji y contra la mencionada Li Xuerui, que cuando ganó el oro en Londres Carolina todavía era una debutante olímpica de 19 años dispuesta a comerse el mundo en un deporte sin tradición en España y que nunca había visto una campeona olímpica no asiática.
Esta medalla olímpica abrocha un ciclo olímpico maravilloso. Su irrupción ha sido abrumadora y llegó a Río de Janeiro como número uno del ránking mundial. Y con el respeto de todos, de sus contrincantes asiáticas y del público español, pendiente como nunca del bádminton. Era la rival a batir. Pero nadie la ha batido. El bádminton y el deporte español están de enhorabuena, ya tienen a una nueva campeona olímpica.
Carolina Marín: «He seguido a mi sueño y hoy se ha hecho realidad»
Muy emocionada, Carolina Marín ha agradecido el apoyo de todos y cada uno de los que la rodean día a día para conseguir este nuevo éxito en su carrera profesional. «Lo primero que quiero hacer es agradecer a todo mi equipo, esta medalla es más suya que mía, sin ellos yo no hubiera podido lograr esto, a cada una de las personas que me han apoyado para que jugara a bádminton, a España, a Huelva, a mi padre, a mi chico y a mi abuela, que la quiero», aseguraba en declaraciones a RTVE.
«Estoy en una nube, hay que luchar mucho por conseguir los sueños. Es importante recordar el camino que hemos tenido que seguir para llegar aquí», apuntaba Carolina.
Marín ha indicado que la clave de este oro no ha sido otro que creer en ella misma: «En mí lo que ha cambiado ha sido el creer en mí misma, en soñar desde que era muy joven, en soñar en grande y en ir a por mis sueños, he seguido a mi sueño y hoy se ha hecho realidad».

La ceremonia comenzaba de una manera espectacular de la mano de Aaron Wheelz
El estadounidense, deportista paralímpico extremo , se lanzó cuesta abajo desde unos 30 metros.
El salto, al que le añadió un giro mortal en el aire, fue el mejor pistoletazo de salida a estos Juegos Paralímpicos.
Para justo saltar en medio de un anillo de fuego.
El deportista cayó en una colchoneta gigante y recibió una atronadora ovación del mítico estadio, dando paso a la música brasileña, más calmada.

El himno. El encargado fue el pianista Joao Carlos Martins, que a pesar de una atrofia en los dedos consiguió que sonara más bonito que nunca. Mientras se izaba la bandera, los voluntarios formaban ellos mismos otra gigante en el césped de Maracaná.
El emblema de los Juegos Paralímpicos de Rio es una mezcla de un corazón y un símbolo del infinito
Tom es la mascota de los Juegos Paralímpicos. y fue nombrada en honor a un músico de Brasil llamado Tom Jobim. Tom representa la flora del país, que crece y supera obstáculos.
Color y ritmo para llegar a un momento solemne durante la Ceremonia de Apertura
Para amenizar la llegada de la antorcha, el momento álgido de estas ceremonia, se volvió a la luz y la tecnología para dejar sin palabras a los televidentes de todo el mundo. Maracaná recuperaba el césped para jugar al fútbol.

Amy Purdy, deportista paralímpica que ha conseguido medallas en snowboard en los Juegos de Invierno. Su actuación fue memorable.
La atleta Shirlene Coelho fue la elegida para abanderar al equipo anfitrión, Brasil. Momento en el que se vino abajo Maracaná, se acaba el desfile, empezaba la segunda parte de la Ceremonia
Colombia fue muy aplaudida, así que los atletas devolvieron el cariño con una coreografía muy divertida mientras desfilaban.
El jugador de tenis de mesa José Manuel Ruiz Reyes fue el abanderado de la selección española. Una delegación que se dejó notar durante el desfile.
Y es que varias veces tuvieron que ser advertidos de que siguieran andando, ya que se paraban a saludar a todas las cámaras. Eso se llama disfrutar el momento.

El «subidón» de Kim López, el primer medallista paralímpico español..toda una vida entrenando se refleja hoy», cuenta eufórico Kim, enormes músculos tatuados, frondosa barba morena, tras su primera medalla en unos Juegos. A sus 27 años, llegó a Brasil con gran cartel tras haberse colgado dos oros en el Campeonato de Europa de atletismo, uno en disco y otro en peso, y una plata y un bronce, respectivamente, en el Mundial de Doha de 2015.
El lanzador de disco Kim López González, con una marca de 16,44, ha logrado el oro y la primera medalla para España en los Juegos Paralímpicos de Río de Janeiro en el Estadio Olímpico.
Kim López, valenciano de 27 años, se alzó en sus primeros Juegos con la medalla de oro en la categoría F12 de discapacitados visuales.
Los 16,44 metros lanzados suponen la mejor marca personal de Kim López, que llegó a Río con su mejor registro en los 15,86.
De todos los participantes en los Juegos Paralímpicos, el español, apoyado por el proyecto FER, ostentaba la mejor marca de 2016 por delante del brasileño Caio Vinicius Da Silva, que fue quinto, y del iraní Saman Pakbaz, que terminó segundo.
El título paralímpico es un paso más en la carrera deportiva de Kim López, que ya tiene en su palmarés dos oros en los últimos dos Europeos (Swansea 2014 y Grosseto 2016) y un bronce en el último Mundial disputado en Doha (2015).

Ceremonia de clausura de los Juegos Paralímpicos de Río 2016
El estadio Maracaná se vistió de gala en la ceremonia de clausura para despedir la reciente edición de los Juegos Paralímpicos de Río 2016, donde los atletas participantes desfilaron y disfrutaron del espectáculo hecho por los organizadores.
El presidente del Comité Paralímpico Internacional, Phillip Craven, dedicó unas palabras a todos los presentes tras la entrega de cada uno de los competidores a lo largo de las dos semanas en Río. Las 160 delegaciones participantes hicieron acto de presencia en el recinto junto a sus abanderados.
Craven agradeció a Brasil como país y Río de Janeiro como ciudad por la organización y le entregaron a Orden Paralímpica, máximo reconocimiento que se puede conceder en esta categoría. El directivo paró por breves instantes la ceremonia para darle un minuto de silencio al ciclista iraní Bahman Golbarnezhad, quien falleció el sábado en la travesía del ciclismo de ruta.

El alemán Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) tomó el liderato del Mundial de Fórmula Uno al ganar este domingo, en el circuito urbano de Marina Bay y en horario nocturno, el Gran Premio de Singapur, que su compañero y rival inglés Lewis Hamilton acabó en tercera posició
♔Rosberg sumó su vigésimo segundo triunfo en la categoría reina del automovilismo, tras aguantar en el tramo final el ataque del australiano Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull), segundo.

♔La tenista francesa Oceane Dodin ganó en Quebec (Canadá) el primer título de su carrera al imponerse por 6-4 y 6-3 a la estadounidense Lauren Davis, procedente de la fase previa, en la primera final de su carrera en el circuito WTA.Dodin, de 19 años y que nunca hasta ahora había disputado una final WTA, no padeció contratiempos ante una adversaria con la que nunca se había enfrentado.
Lauren Davis, de 22, 104 del mundo y finalista este año en Washington, fue incapaz de enderezar el rumbo de un partido que se le puso cuesta arriba desde el primer momento.
La ucraniana Lesia Tsurenko sumó el segundo título WTA de su carrera en Cantón (China) al vencer a la Serbia Jelena Jankovic, segunda favorita, por 6-4, 3-6 y 6-4 tras dos horas y veinticinco minutos de lucha.
Lara Arruabarrena se proclamó campeona del WTA de Seúl en un partido de ida vuelta ante Monica Niculescu donde ambas tuvieron su momento. No por eso deja de ser llamativo el resultado: 6-0, 2-6, 6-0. Marcador que le otorga a la tolosarra el segundo título de su carrera, primero sobre pista rápida. Gracias a este triunfo, la española escala hasta el mejor ranking de su carrera, rozando el top60.

♔La checa Petra Kvitova se proclamó campeona del torneo de tenis de Wuhan (China) al derrotar, por 6-1 y 6-1, a la eslovaca Dominika Cibulkova en un choque que se alargó durante 62 minutos.
Esta victoria le permitirá recuperar cinco posiciones en el ránking de la WTA. El próximo lunes, Kvitova será la undécima mejor jugadora del mundo y ascenderá del puesto número 21 al 12 en la Carrera hacia Singapur, donde se disputará el Masters.

Andy Murray sigue cosechando títulos El escocés levantó el trofeo de campeón en el ATP 500 de Pekín, se quedó con el quinto título del año y está cada vez más cerca de Novak Djokovic.
Murray, máximo favorito al título, cumplió con los pronósticos venciendo a Grigor Dimitrov por un marcador de 6-4, 7-6(2) en la final del ATP 500 de Pekín y se quedó con el trofeo que lo acredita como campeón del torneo chino.
El escocés estuvo, como suele ser habitual en los últimos años, intratable desde el fondo de pista, sólido como una roca, ágil, rápido de piernas y con una consistencia propia de uno de los mejores tenistas de los últimos tiempos.
El dúo español formado por Rafael Nadal y Pablo Carreño fueron capaces de lograr su primer título juntos al derrotar en la final del ATP 500 de Pekín a Jack Sock y Bernard Tomic. Los españoles se impusieron al estadounidense y el australiano por un marcador de 6-7(6), 6-2 y 10-8 en una hora y 29 minutos de juego.

♔Agnieszka Radwanska, tercera favorita y número tres del ranking mundial de la WTA, se impuso a Johanna Konta (11º) por un marcador de 6-4, 6-2 y se quedó con el título en el Premier Mandatory de Pekín.
Radwanska asumió a la perfección el papel de máxima favorita en Pekín después de las derrotas prematuras de la nueva número uno del mundo, Angelique Kerber, y la campeona defensora, Garbiñe Muguruza.
Como curiosidad a sus números, Radwanska, vencedora de tres títulos en la presente temporada (Shenzhen, New Haven y ahora Pekín, todos sobre pista dura), levantó todos estos trofeos completando semanas en las que rozó la perfección y no cedió un solo set en sus tres torneos.

Un día feliz en Mercedes, que amarró hoy su tercer título de constructores de su historia, todos logrados de forma consecutiva alcanzando los 593 puntos, 208 más que su más inmediato perseguidor, la escudería austríaca Red Bull.
Soy consciente de los 33 puntos, pero me centro en cada carrera», dijo un Rosberg sonriente por el golpe psicológico al campeonato, aunque advirtió que «las matemáticas no cuentan» si el rival es su compañero Lewis. «Va a luchar, va a ser bonito empezando por el próximo fin de semana en Austin», agregó.
El alemán destacó el buen equilibrio de su monoplaza y el control del ritmo y la distancia con el holandés Max Verstappen (Red Bull), que fue segundo al final, y reiteró que 33 puntos aún no es diferencia suficiente con cuatro carreras por delante (que suponen 100 puntos como máximo para el ganador de las cuatro).
